The German-Kazakh Business Council was recently held in Berlin. Nils Scharfenberg, representing KOCH Solutions, a Rainbow Heavy Industries company, was invited to attend and exchanged views with government and business representatives including the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan on bilateral cooperation in critical raw materials.

In his remarks, Nils noted that the political and economic foundation of mutual trust has been established, and the key task now is to translate this shared understanding into technically robust, economically viable and bankable industrial projects. He stressed that investment decisions cannot be based solely on initial capital cost — operating costs, energy efficiency, environmental performance, plant availability and long-term reliability are equally critical. Only by taking a full lifecycle perspective can projects remain sustainable over the long term.
